Eric Pajot, is one of the rare ambient visual artists who concurrently master music creation. Born in 1966, he lives and works in Paris since 1984. He's a participant to the avant-garde DVD by Numbers collection – released in 2003.
Trained as a graphic designer and graduate in film decoration, he buys his first computer in the mid 80's and starts learning digital imaging on his own. A few years down the line (quite a few, actually), the time has finally come to make ambient images widely available: he meets Raphaël Elig in 2002 and the DVD by Numbers collection will soon be born.
Edited and distributed by Sony Music Video, the DVD by Numbers collection is the first video art production set in motion by a major label. Although a bit early to surf on the Plasma TVs wave, the release of the collection is an assertion that ambient, non-narrative TV programs are on their way to everyone's home, and not reserved to art galleries and museums anymore. Fully claiming this popular aspect, Eric Pajot calls his creations "video wallpapers", a denomination under which he still exhibits his work.
