Rob Tyler, the author of the unique Film Paintings series "Autour de Nous", is a graphic designer and filmmaker living in Portland, Oregon. Working in both documentary and experimental mediums, Rob Tyler's films and videos have been described as both visually stunning and atmospherically beautiful.

His documentaries and short films have screened internationally at such places as Viper|Basel, the New York and Chicago Underground film festivals, Ann Arbor, and the Museum of Modern Art in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

"Autour de Nous" is a collection of ambient 16mm films that have been painstakingly hand painted frame by frame and then digitally manipulated. These "film paintings" explore the smooth motion and subtle explosion of colors and shapes.
