Thu Trinh-Bouvier explores plastic creation through fixed and animated images mixing traditional techniques (watercolour, pastel, Indian ink) and computer tools. Always upon the watch as to new forms of expression, she jumps in 3D animation with her pencils and brushes beside her computer. She is also interested in the relation between the animated image and the poetic text.
Her movie "Toupie" ("Spinning-Top") illustrates this artistic approach. Realized in 2003, it is a masterpiece that was nominated in many international festivals: Viper Basel; International Video and New Media Festival 2003; Holland Animation Film Festival 2004; Prix Ars Electronica 2004 Computer Animation/Visuel Effects; Melbourne International Animation Festival 2004; Ciberart of Bilbao, International Festival of New Technologies, Art and Communication 2004; Mostra e festival del video e del cortometraggio - Italia 2004.
Télérama (#1 TV & cinema magazine in France) chose "Toupies" to present on its website the Festival of the festivals, La Villette Numérique 2004 - category young European creators. |
